_{[It sure didn’t take long after Amery’s first post for the feed to come on again, this time showing a beaming face. Well, actually two faces, but Balfour was beaming, his arms wrapped around Amery’s shoulders from behind as he showed him the broadcasting device. He held it in one hand and grinned out to the public.]}

Hey everyone! I know I’ve mentioned him before, but this is my brother, Amery! Say hi!

_{[He nudges Amery, intent on his brother making a good impression among his new friends.]}

Hello.

[Amery doesn’t look nearly as happy about this as his brother does, but he’s dealing with it. If only because it’s Balfour.]

It seems my brother has been sharing stories about me in my absence.

Of course I have! You’re my brother!

_{[So obviously, Balfour would be telling tales. He adored and looked up to Amery, after all.]}

Anyway, I just wanted everyone to know who he was. Please treat him kindly!

_{[And that goes for you too, Amery.]}

Balfour, though I appreciate the gesture, I do believe I’ll be capable of dealing with people whether or not they decide to treat me kindly.

_{[Balfour sighs, looking at the man he’s draped over for a moment.]}

_{[But whatever else he was going to say is lost. He kills the feed just as he begins that sentence. Privacy was a valued thing for Amery, after all. Balfour knew this.]}

[Well. He had to sit and stare for a while. And no, it wasn't because Balfour's brother was hot. And it wasn't because he was a bit upset that Balfour had just up and left earlier and Reid had had no idea where he'd went.

No, it was because if his first look of Amery hadn't been of the guy with Balfour, he probably wouldn't have attacked him on sight. He just so happened to look just like Chase.

So, when he finally turns on the video feed, he makes it private. He knows he can't keep it from Balfour's brother if the guy's happening to watch or listen in, but he can keep it from everyone else in Mallowhallow.]

So that's your brother? The one that...you know? [Is supposed to be dead :|]

I never thought of it that way, but yeah, he is. He's very handsome, and I'm sure had certain events not happened _{[Read: yes, he did die. But he's back now.]} he would have been married off and had children by now.

_{[If he could find a woman who met his standards, that was, and who he felt comfortable enough around to be intimate with. Amery was a complicated creature and Balfour took pride in understanding him when no one else did.]}

But no, you're not wrong. But he's back now, so everything's okay.

_{[Nothing hurt now that Amery was back. Balfour was elated.]}

[He grinned, lighthearted, teasing. This was a time to be happy, right? They'd been talking about their brothers before, this was a good thing for Balfour. Yet Dyme couldn't help but be a little jealous because his brother was still dead.]

I'm happy for you; it's great that you've got him back.

I know, I'm very lucky. This...this kind of thing, it doesn't happen.

_{[And he feels badly that Dyme is now without his dead brother, feels guilty about showing off Amery. It almost felt like he'd rubbed something in Dyme's face...but Amery was his and he was so proud of him. He couldn't help it.]}

_{[After talking to Reid, it didn't take long for a slightly frightened Balfour to find Amery and wrap his arms around him, burying his face in his back as he clung tightly enough to cause breathing issues. His whole body was shaking as he tried not to flat-out sob on his brother. His scent and warmth were comforting enough. He was content to be ignored should Amery choose that. Just as long as he could hold on.]}

[As if he could ignore Balfour, with the way that he was clinging to him. He didn't push Balfour away though, because he could tell that something was wrong. Honestly he wasn't all that surprised. There had been a lot of clinging happening since he'd arrived here.]

What is it?

<sub>[Balfour loosened his grip a little bit when Amery acknowledged his presence, but didn't speak for a few moments, still just holding on, just hoping that his brother's mere presence would calm him.

And it did. Amery was always so calm and controlled. People called him cold, but no. He wasn't cold. He just had a lot of self-control and was very private. It wasn't that he didn't feel; he just didn't show that he felt. Balfour knew that. Balfour knew how to read between the lines.

He wished he had that same control. Then he wouldn't be so damn terrified of his brother disappearing.]</sub>

You'll stay, right? Promise? And you'll be careful? You know what happens when the dead are brought back.

_{[And Balfour sure as hell wasn't going to take losing his brother again very well.]}

[It wasn't healthy though, Balfour. Keeping everything inside, to himself, it wasn't always a good thing. And, though he hadn't said it, Amery didn't want Balfour to be so much like him. Balfour was his own person.

He sighed.]

Of course I'll stay. [Where else could he go, really?] I highly doubt anything is going to happen, Balfour.

My older brother says that brothers are supposed to annoy each other.

Oh, well, that rule certainly applies to us, as well. I'm sure I annoy Amery like no tomorrow. We're very different.

_{[He grins and shrugs a bit. See, it doesn't matter. He loves Amery anyway.]}

But we're still brothers and I absolutely adore him and look up to him. He's probably one of the best things that has ever happened to me, and definitely him coming here falls under that as well.

What's your brother like?

Which one of you is younger? My brother's twelve, but he's already a jounin. He's pretty cool. Really, really, really smart--but he's usually too busy to teach me things, even when he promised he would.

[There's a shade of a pout, but it's gone quickly.]

But he makes up for it. Sometimes.

I'm younger than Amery, but he was pulled about four years before I was, so we're about the same age right now, with only one year between us.

Your brother sounds interesting, but a lot like mine. Amery taught me how to cook and how to defend myself.

_{[But not how to fight, and he really was a shitty hand-to-hand fighter.]}

I wouldn't exactly say we annoy each other, though he certainly does frustrate me at times.

[If only because Amery has his own expectations of Balfour, which are probably different than the things that Balfour himself thinks they are.]

Not quite. It's not as though he irritates me with any bad habits. [Alright, so there were a few, but not anything really worth mentioning.]

He's simply capable of so much more than I believe he thinks he is, and as an elder brother, that is what frustrates me.

Balfour, I'm sure Reid already told you.

[He's not going into more detail because he's not stupid. Reid would have seen this and jumped on it and been like 'Nope I don't like him' despite how it was pretty clear it was not Chase. It just seemed so strange.]

I know it's not. I met him when he first got here, but it's an unnerving type of thing...

I'm not gonna do anything to him, don't worry, Balfour, just... I want you to be careful even around your brother just in case because new people show up every day and you never know when your brother won't be your brother...

I would. Amery is...different. He speaks his own language and acts a certain way. I doubt anyone would be able to imitate him.
