[Hello, Mallow Hallow, it's your resident spooky alien vampire ghost (no, seriously), and she's looking hungry for a good conversation. Wearing a strapless dress that shows off the extensive black spirals tattooed across her chest, shoulders, and down her arms, she's curled up in a comfy-looking chair in her and Kurloz's place, toying with the gold ring in her lower lip contemplatively before she begins to speak. Her accent is foreign, just a touch middle-eastern sounding, but mostly just alien.]

Hi there. In a place like this, it's nice to know that other people share one's interests. As it happens, I've got a major interest in body modification. Tattoos, piercings, you name it.

[She leans forward, looking inquisitive—though it's hard to tell without irises.]

Who wants to play show-and-tell?

Oh, yours are so lovely, but I just...don't know if I could.

Oh, darling, thank you. But your skin is just so lovely, I don't know if I could bear to see you cover it with anything.

[There's an odd flash of expression across her face for a moment, before it settles into a smile.]

Well, thank you.

[She laughs when she realizes how that might have sounded.]

Well—you know what I mean, anyway.

[She smiles, and outwardly it looks just as natural as can be - but inwardly, she's wondering. Has Porrim really not noticed, any of the times they've been together? She supposes she has been rather careful to keep her back covered.]

Of course.

[Oh, she's noticed. And although she's never made mention of it—it's likely that bringing up scars such as hers would be a trigger, she's learned that much from Kankri—they're a part of Chataya, and to her, that makes them inherently beautiful.]

They do such things, where you're from? Tattoos and things, I mean.

[She relaxes minutely, much more comfortable with the direction the conversation is taking.]

Yes, although not as much on my island, I think. There's a woman here from my world, Apollo - she has several, but she's from a different place than the island I come from. I think it's more prevalent in other cultures.

[Her smile turns a little wry.]

And certainly not for anyone in my line of work. For us, it was always, 'Take a parasol if you're going out into the Market - you wouldn't want your skin to brown'. I don't think the Madam would have been very pleased with tattoos.

Ah! I believe I spoke with her, actually.

[Porrim leans forward, visibly interested in what Chataya is telling her. She adores learning about other cultures, especially since humans seem to have umpteen of them.]

Fascinating. [She breathes the word, before realizing she might explain what is so fascinating about it.]

On Beforus, most all the others of my kind were made to stay out of the sun, but only because our sun burned so hot it would have killed them. My caste were the only ones who could withstand the heat of the daylight.

[She blinks a few times, surprised.]

Oh. Well, it certainly isn't that bad for us. We can be burned by the sun, but the most it generally results in is a painful redness that turns to brown after a while and...flakes.

[Describing it that way makes her wrinkle her nose a little.]

On second thought, I think I may be glad the Madam always made us carry protection.

How very strange. [She has to smile at that wrinkle of Chataya's nose, running a hand absentmindedly though her hair.]

It sounds pretty uncomfortable, to be sure. I'm lucky, I suppose, that I never had to worry about the sun.

Mm. I do think it would have been much more convenient if I hadn't needed to be concerned.

Still, though, I suppose there's not much chance I'm going to go back to any of that, so there's not much need to worry about what the Madam might think. And if some of the new workers here are any indication, tattoos and piercings are hardly going to keep one from attracting customers.

That's likely true, yes.

[She cocks her head at that.]

You don't believe you will go back?

[She shrugs, an attempt at nonchalance.]

It's more like there really isn't much left to go back to.

[Porrim cringes. She's not doing so hot today, is she?]

I'm sorry. I believe you mentioned it before. We're in the same boat, there.

[Her eyes widen at that cringe, and she answers quickly - she never meant to make Porrim feel badly.]

No, no - that's all right. I suppose being here is better than...not being anywhere?

[That makes her chuckle.]

Which is what I was doing before I came here, funnily enough. At least, close enough to it.

[That gets a head tilt out of Chataya, now.]

What do you mean?

The place I was before...it was sort of like an afterlife, only not. It was called a dream bubble, and it was made up of my memories and the memories of my friends. Ghosts, all of us.

[Her smile turns a little sad.] Not much of a life, really.

[She's doing her best to wrap her brain around that concept - it's not working very well.]

Well...it seems it could be worse, though. At least you had memories and people to share them with, yes?

Oh, it certainly could. Believe me, I'm grateful that I was at least afforded that much.

[Her smile widens.]

And now, it seems, a second lease on life, with even lovelier people to share it with.

[She nods - a second lease on life: she certainly understands that sentiment.]

Yes. Not everyone is so lucky.

Precisely. So! I say we make the most of it. Have some fun while we're stuck here.

[And that brings them nicely full circle.]

Hence, the wondering if I should perhaps wander out of my comfort zone and take advantage of your services.

[Slowly, Porrim raises an eyebrow.]

You would be willing to do that?
