Rehearsal 1: [Text, from Astralfield]

[The text is written in long, loopy handwriting, and displays as a dark blue -- the color of the chalk he's using. Victor's not even close to figuring out the video function yet.]

I -- I don't even know what I'm doing. . . Apparently this chalkboard can be used to talk to other people? Like letters, only more -- instant? Oh dear, I'm so confused. . .

Is there anyone out there who can explain this to me? All I know is that I was in my room, preparing to draw, when suddenly I blacked out and then. . .

[And he just can't help asking the question that's been on his mind since he first woke up here.]

Yes -- it's what the Queen gave me when they decided on where I was to live.

[Which was -- kind of annoying, honestly. Victor is really growing to dislike others making his decisions for him. He let his parents get away with that crap for far too long, and now he's got to put up with it from a whole other world.]

You're not in Pillowland?

No, they told me I was going to "Astralfield." It's -- well, it's not pillows.

[It seems okay so far -- he's found himself a convenient bench to sit on -- but he would swear he saw some of the clouds making faces at him earlier.]

Maybe I should have a look around more.

Maybe? I'm more worried about what I'm to do about food and shelter. Nobody really answered any of my questions -- they just brought me to the King and Queen, then dropped me off here.

There should be some rooms free somewhere, shouldn't there? That's what I found.

Even if they did look like pillows.

I'll have to look around more then myself. I've just -- it's been something of a shock, landing here. . .

[Well, that's completely mad. And just makes him think of Wonderland again.]

Looks like everything is pillows. Mainly a lot of pink ones for some reason...

It's like being stuck in some pretty princess DS game.

[Victor has no idea what he's talking about, so he'll just shrug.]

I'm sure you'll find someplace acceptable eventually. With less pink.

[A disturbing thought comes to him then, and he shivers a little.]

I've, ah, seen the a-afterlife. A corpse bride d-dragged me down there after she mistook me practicing my wedding vows above her grave as a p-proposal.

I'm quite certain there was no voodoo involved, and they weren't the type to hurt people. Unless you were an utter bastard who'd murdered one of their own and threatened the lives of two other people, anyway.

[Yeah, his voice and face just went dark there. He does not like your memory, Lord Barkis.]

Nah, I don't mean voodoo, man. I mean the type of Romero zombies that'll tear your face off and eat your guts and you have to shoot them in the head with an awesome shotgun.

[Victor stares at Joe for a long moment. What are you on about, person Lord Everglot would probably get along with?]

I -- no, they weren't like that at all. No face-tearing or g-gut-eating.

[Well, there was nose cake, but that was from one of them, so Victor would guess it doesn't count.]

Aww, that's a shame. Blasting zombies is fun!
