Rehearsal 1: [Text, from Astralfield]

[The text is written in long, loopy handwriting, and displays as a dark blue -- the color of the chalk he's using. Victor's not even close to figuring out the video function yet.]

I -- I don't even know what I'm doing. . . Apparently this chalkboard can be used to talk to other people? Like letters, only more -- instant? Oh dear, I'm so confused. . .

Is there anyone out there who can explain this to me? All I know is that I was in my room, preparing to draw, when suddenly I blacked out and then. . .

[And he just can't help asking the question that's been on his mind since he first woke up here.]

Is this Wonderland?

[He was glad his goat dad never bothered him about such things, though he did get it plenty from the older high blooded trolls.]

[He shook his head, nope didn't mean the family. He then places his hand to his heart, indicating that he was asking if he had loved either Emily or Victoria.]

[It takes a moment for Victor to interpret what he's asking. Once he does, though. . .]

I -- I'd say I loved them both. I was willing to drink poison for Emily, and to take a sword through the vitals for Victoria. I wanted them to be happy and safe, even after knowing them for such a short time.

On the other hand, that short time means either love didn't get much of a chance to bloom. I still care for both of them, but I think the romantic part has faded with time.

[Kurloz can't help but smile as he read about what lengths Victor would go for the girls. Then he began to think that maybe this guy would understand him. He looks away for awhile, thinking to himself.]

[Then he begins to type again.]

THE SISTER WHO SPEAKS OF WONDERLAND, YOU LOVE HER?

[Victor's always been the type to put others before himself -- particularly those he loves. And when it comes to those he loves being threatened. . .well. He didn't care what happened to him in that fight -- he just wanted to stop Barkis.

That question gets an immediate answer.]

Yes. She's my best friend, the one I've always felt most comfortable talking to -- and she saved me from one of the most despicable monsters living in London's East End.

[You can't see it, but Victor's body tightens with anger at the mere thought of said monster. If only he'd gotten to see Alice put paid to him. . .]

She's the most amazing woman I've ever met and

[And who knows how long it'll be until he sees her again.]

[Kurloz blinks, surprised at how fast the answer comes before he starts to read. His head tilts slightly as Victor talks about the monster. He then looks concerned when his message cuts off. But he can suspect why Victor cut off. It was a miracle to ever find that one person who can accept you for all you are without any strings attached.]

[His words made him think of Meulin, and he frowns a little. He's been trying his hardest not to think of her, only allowing his thoughts to wonder when everyone was asleep and he was alone. Because he was alone again, despite the few people that have been absolutely amazing, there wasn't anybody here that stood up to his wicked kitty bitch and his best friend. And he found himself getting lost in his own think pan again.]

[Victor waits for a reply, but -- well. Kurloz seems to have wandered off into some faraway mental street. He frowns, biting his lip. Seems this fellow is missing someone too. Which shouldn't really be a surprise, honestly. If this world just grabs people from others at random. . . He fiddles with the chalk for a moment before writing again.]

I hope I haven't brought up any painful memories.

[He hears his phone go off and he's looking at it again, shaking his head at the words. He smiles at the screen, seemingly back to normal. He's usually really good with controlling his emotions, sorry for worrying you Victor.]

NO BROTHER, I WAS JUST THINKING OF MY OWN MIRACLE GIRL, AND THE GOOD TIMES WE HAD TOGETHER. :o)

I'LL PRAY FOR YOU TWO. IT JUST AIN'T COOL, SEPARATING MOTHER FUCKERS LIKE THAT.

Oh, I see.

Thank you -- it really isn't. And I hope maybe you can see your "miracle girl" one day again as well.

[He means it too. Nobody deserves to be torn away from those they love.]

[He smiles, but it's a little on the weak side. Even if he did there was no hope for them anymore, it was their love that had torn them apart in the end. But then his smile widens because, at least Victor has a chance, and hopefully the tragedy that befell him and his love won't happen to him.]

HER NAME IS MEULIN LEJION. SHE'S THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE FROM ME; VIBRANT, LIVELY, AND SO FULL OF LOVE FOR ALL THINGS THIS WORLD HAS TO OFFER.

[Suddenly a thought comes to him and his eyes open wide.]

HEY, BROTHER, IF YOU DO SEE HER, DO YOU THINK YOU CAN WATCH OVER HER UNTIL I ARRIVE? WICKED LITTLE KITTEN KIND OF LOST HER HEARING AND I'M NOT SURE HOW WELL SHE'LL REACT TO BEING DROPPED IN A BUSY CITY. :o(

[Victor certainly hopes not. He and Alice have both had enough tragedy in their lives.]

I see. My Alice is a bit dark at times, and prone to sarcasm, but she's got a wonderfully brave and kind heart. Even if she's sometimes reluctant to let others see it.

Oh, I see. If I do see her, I'll definitely try to keep an eye on her. Being dropped into an unfamiliar place is never fun for anyone, really. Though I suppose that depends on where she ends up. . .I've been told where I am is "Astralfield."

[Kurloz smiles widely at the description of Alice, something told him he was going to like this girl. He already liked Victor enough, he seemed trustworthy and understanding. That was rare, no matter where you went.]

[Victor tries to be -- and he's had enough experience to know that those who seem different or possibly scary can be some of the nicest people you could ever meet.]

You're welcome. And yes, I'm starting to gather. . . They really should tell you more about where you're going to live when you first arrive. Being talked about like you aren't even there is -- frustrating, to say the least.

Oh, I never introduced myself, did I? Victor Van Dort.

[He shrugs, he's used to being talked about, comes with following a weird clown horror cult. Also comes with being of royal blood and dressing in a skeleton suit. All in all, his experience with the royals here was the usual, except he hadn't gotten the pleasure which comes with scaring the ever loving shit out of them.]

[But he had to agree with Victor, it did get on your nerves after a while.]

I'LL BE HONEST WITH YOU, I WAS NOT PAYING ALL THAT MUCH ATTENTION TO WHAT THEY WHERE SAYING IN THE FIRST PLACE, TOO DISTRACTED WITH THE MIRACULOUS TALKING HOP BEAST.

ALSO YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW FUCKING AMAZING IT IS TO SEE SO MANY NEW PEOPLE AND IN A WHOLE NEW ENVIRONMENT.

[His eyes widen and he tilts his head, huh... That's an interesting name.]

[Victor supposes he's used to being talked about as well -- comes with being the son of the most successful fish merchant in England, and the best-known "swell" in Whitechapel. It just grates on his nerves now a little more than in the past.]

Heh -- I admit, I was a bit distracted myself, just looking around and wondering what had happened. And making sure my sketchbook was all right.

[Very glad that came with him.]

I'm sure I'll find out soon enough. It's already proven itself to be friendlier than Whitechapel -- where I was living before.

[Victor could say the same about your name, Kurloz -- then again, he made the acquaintance of someone named Bonejangles, so. . .]

[He tilts his head, suddenly remembering that sketchbook.]

CAN I SEE YOUR ART?

[He was really into art, perhaps for all the wrong reasons, but he still found expressing oneself in any way to be one of life's greatest miracles.]

[And art was one miracle nobody could explain with the wickedness of science.]

[Oh. Hmm. Minor complication.]

I'm not sure how to do that moving pictures business you're doing. I would show you if I could.

[He looks down for a moment, smile fading into a blank look. Hm, that was a problem, and he didn't know how to work chalk boards. But then he looks up with just those big dead eyes.]

WE CAN ALWAYS HANG OUT AND CHILL OVER IN ASTRALFIELD

[If you want too.]

['Hang out and chill?' Victor gets the jist of it, but what an odd turn of phrase. Still, Kurloz has been helpful, and certainly very understanding.]

I wouldn't mind. Though being new to the area, I'm not sure where we would 'hang.' Was there a specific time or place you had in mind, or. . . ?

[He's currently parked himself on a convenient bench as he adjusts to the situation.]

[He smiles, dude you can hang anywhere, you don't have to do anything. That's what chilling is all about.]

[Kurloz shrugs, he was pretty much open anytime, anywhere. All that mattered was the time it took him to reach the place they where meeting and... oh yeah, Astralfield had that thing...]

I'M GOOD WHENEVER, BROTHER. BUT YOU GUYS HAVE THAT WHOLE SLEEPING THING...SO IT WOULD HAVE TO COME BEFORE THEN.

(ooc: Also depends if you want to just action it out here or do you want me to set up a log?)

[Victor is unfamiliar with this terminology! He'll learn, though. That's one thing you can say -- he adapts relatively fast.

Victor blinks? "Sleeping thing?" Maybe Kurloz doesn't sleep. . . He shrugs to himself.]

Perhaps tomorrow then? After I've found myself a room and gotten a bit more used to this place? I have a bench here I'm pretty certain I can find again.

((OOC: I'm thinking a log should be good. I've been sort of wanting one for Victor and somebody. :) ))

[He slept, just not often. He tended to have a lot of very bad nightmares and also cause others to have them. So it was a good thing Victor was in the Astra and not the mime]

[Kurloz nods in agreement. That sounded good to him.]

[Victor's a chronic insomniac -- or well, was, given where he's now living. And while he may not have as many nightmares as Kurloz, when he does have one, it's probably going to lead to at least a few creepy things wandering around.]
