1st Duel | Video (Action for Crystalden)

(The video clicks on, and once again the image should look fairly familiar - a spiky-haired Duelist with a Duel Disk on appears after a few minutes, but his expression is a little more gentle and kind, also showing intensity and determination in his eyes. He's been traveling the majority of Crystalden since he arrived not too long ago, curiosity and awe in his voice while taking a bit of a rest.)

Wow...! If I didn't know any better, I'd say this was how Domino City will look in the future. Even these communicators look futuristic! Wonder if anyone from the gang's here too...

[ ... Well, that's quite a familiar face. And not the one of a decorated pharaoh, either. Not that there's a problem with that, but it's a little more familiar to Yuusei, at least. Either way, he can't help but offer the other duelist a small smile through the video feed. ]

I wouldn't quite say that, Yuugi-san.

(Yugi blinks a few times as he stared back via the video feed and returned the smile.)

Wait a second...you know me? Are you a Duelist too?

[ And for a brief moment, the small smile on Yuusei's face fades - though, there's no point in trying to get it back, and he simply just finds a way to go with it. Here he'd hoped that Yuugi would remember him. Though, if he came from an earlier point in time than their duel against Paradox, then it'd make perfect sense. ]

Ah, sorry about that. I do know you though, and yes, I am a duelist. I'm Yuusei Fudou.

(That's when it clicks for Yugi, and recognition flashes in his eyes for a brief moment before he allows his smile to grow a bit. He does remember the duel against Paradox, and the two Duelists from his future...with their astonishing cards...of course, ~~Atem~~ the Other Yugi had dueled alongside them...)

Yuusei-kun! You're here, too?

[ ... There it is. Yuusei lets a flash of relief cross his features once it clicks for Yuugi, and he manages a quiet chuckle at the question. For him, it'd only been a few months since the last he saw the smaller duelist, but for Yuugi... it was likely quite some time. ]

Yeah, I'm here. In fact, I'm probably not very far from you. You're here in Crystalden, right?

(It had indeed been quite some time since Yugi had participated in that duel. A lot had changed for him, and he wasn't that small anymore...though Yuusei was probably still taller than him.)

Yeah, I am! I was wondering if any of my friends were here, and so far I've only heard from Kaiba-kun. Have you seen any of your friends yet?

[ Always the tallest protagonist, but not by much. At the mention of Yuugi's curiosity regarding his own friends, Yuusei's expression falters once more, gaze lowering briefly before shaking his head. ]

I'm afraid not. I've met plenty of other duelists, but none from my own time. [ A pause as he lifts his gaze back to the screen. ] Though, I'm not sure I'd want any of them here. Neo Domino City is in danger right now, and if I'm not there, then my friends need to be.

[ Honestly, he'd much rather take on those responsible for the Arc Cradle on his own and have his friends safe in a place like this with no immediate danger, but... on the other hand, it's certainly nice to see an old friend. ]

Other Duelists? (Yugi's expression brightens a bit more, curious as to which era they could be from. Maybe some from Juudai's time, or some from Yuusei's?) Have you met any of them?

(He can't help but be concerned once hearing Neo Domino City -his city, his home no matter how much time had passed- was in trouble.) What's going on back home? Or...back in your time?

Mm. I've seen Kaiba-san, and another that I think is from Juudai-san's era in time. Yet there's another that... I think he just may be from even farther into the future than I am to you. [ Speaking of Juudai, though... ] Do you know if Juudai-san is here?

[ Oh, but there's Yuugi's concern about Yuusei's friends, and really... he couldn't expect anything less from him. It at least helps make him feel a little more at ease. ]

Paradox wasn't the only one trying to change the future of the world. There are more of them that are trying.

...Even farther in the future than you are? That's incredible...! (To think it all seemed to start with him putting together the Millennium Puzzle, random games and the emergence of Duel Monsters...)

Hmm...maybe, but I haven't seen any videos with Juudai-kun or run into him yet. If he's here, we'll know about it soon enough.

(Yugi couldn't help but wonder...if Paradox was only one act of a number of people trying to change their entire future...not just his, Juudai-kun's, Yuusei-kun's or the Duelists who exist later on!)

That sounds serious...! You're facing them back home alongside your friends!

[ Yuusei closes his eyes for a moment, then nods. At the very least, Yuugi's right - if Juudai's around, they'll find out soon enough. It hasn't really been that long since they all seemed to arrive, and knowing Juudai, he's likely just off exploring and completely ignoring the network. Sounds like something he'd do, at least. ]

If you ever catch wind of a group named Yliaster, avoid them, Yuugi-san. In their attempts to change the future, they've done other things that have already affected me and my friends back home when we were still too young to remember. And since they can travel to any point in time...

[ The last thing he ever wants is for Juudai or Yuugi to be in danger because of a problem in his time. Zero Reverse happening once is too much for Yuusei, let alone another disaster meant to change a distant future happening in a completely different time. Could he even ask for the Crimson Dragon's help here..? ]

I just hope everyone back home will be okay without me.

(Yugi nods solemnly, listening carefully while reminding himself to keep that name in mind for the future: Yliaster.)

Right. They might even try to travel back to my time, or even Juudai-kun's...

(He thinks briefly about his own friends...Jounouchi, Honda, Anzu, Otogi, Rebecca, Mai, even Mokuba...with both him and Kaiba-kun here, they truly were on their own.)

I'm sure they'll be just fine, Yuusei-kun. They believe in the bond you all share...just like we have our own bond that stretches through time...

[ As he listens to Yuugi, Yuusei can't help but let himself keep a little calmer about the situation. If Yuugi could believe in him and his friends, then Yuusei certainly could. Typically, there were better ways to spend a day, anyway, and worrying was not one of those ways. ]

... Thanks, Yuugi-san. [ Another pause as he realizes something. ] I didn't mean to cause you to worry, though. I just thought it would be a good idea to keep the name in mind when you get back home, just in case something happens. I hope they realized the mistake that was made and they don't try it again.

(Yugi laughs lightly while nodding firmly. While he would remember the name, he did have a reason to feel good - he ran into one of his friends, albeit from a faraway future time period.)

Of course, Yuusei-kun. (A brief pause before nodding once more.) It's alright - my best friend Anzu would say that no matter what, friends are always there to support each other through all the good times as well as the bad ones. I'm sure after the incident with Paradox, and when you're able to solve the problem with Yliaster back in your time, they won't try this again.

(Yugi said 'when,' not 'if.' That alone meant he was confident the situation could be handled by Yuusei and his friends.)

[ Yuusei takes note of that confidence, and Yuusei manages another one of his small smiles. ]

I hope that's the case. Neo Domino City will have a bright future, no matter what they say.

[ Because no one messes around with his city, okay. ]

How have you been holding up so far, though?

(Yugi can fully relax, pleased that Domino City thrives even after his and Juudai-kun's time has come and gone as long as Yuusei-kun is around.)

I've been doing fine. Spent most of the day walking around, getting used to the city and how amazing it looks!

It is pretty amazing, isn't it?

[ Honestly, Yuusei found himself quite taken with Crystalden when he first arrived - not only because it's where he can get the needed parts to fix up his D-Wheel, but because it reminds him a little of home. He glances around, taking in the sights once more as if he'd only just gotten there a few hours beforehand. ]

The technology here is more advanced than in my time... in some places, and in others it's on par with what I'm used to. It's kind of strange, but I know I can get used to it.

Yeah! It's wonderful.

(Yugi hasn't seen much that he would find back home, but the majority of Crystalden reminds him of Kaiba's virtual technology that was used for the Duel Monsters duels.)

It is gonna be a big change, but I'm sure we'll be able to adapt and get used to being here.

[ Yuusei manages a small smile at that as he nods confidently. ]

If we couldn't, we wouldn't be the people we are, would we?

[ Obviously, they can all take any challenge head-on without a problem. ~~Such is the life of being a protagonist.~~ Yuusei glances around a bit, then shifts a bit so his D-Wheel is visible in the background. ]

If you'd like, once I get my D-Wheel fixed up, I can make it easier for you to get around. I know the area pretty well already since I've had to track down some spare parts to get it even close to finished.

Exactly.

(Yugi's eyes widen once seeing the D-Wheel while realizing this was the way Duelists must duel in his time.)

Wow! I'd enjoy that a lot, Yuusei-kun! It sure beats walking, that's for sure.

[ And Yuugi's expression has Yuusei smiling a little easier. He'd forgotten that Yuugi's only experience with a D-Wheel had been extremely brief, and even then, he hadn't really... been on it, what with Juudai having ridden with him. So really, that was the Crimson Dragon's fault for the awful ride. ]

I can promise that it won't be the like the last time, either.

[ The Crimson Dragon just doesn't know how to drive a D-Wheel, that's all. ]
