[ While fumbling with his device, Haru had somehow managed to start an accidental video recording. The view was currently of him lying out on a bed with bright red sheets, swinging his legs up and down. His brow furrowed in confusion as he looked down at his device, as if suddenly noticing something, and then he turned it about in his hands. Now, the camera was facing another boy that looked to be about his age, with bright red hair the same color as the sheets. This boy was folding clothes and putting them away in a closet. ]

Yuki! You said you'd explain to me how this phone works, remember?

[ The said redhead looks up from his current task of folding a shirt that has a bunch of yellow stars on it, unaware that the video was on. For now. ]

Oh yeah... Wait, why are you pointing it at me like that?

[ That face Yuki's making? It quickly dissolves into something closer to panic as he realizes what that blinking light means. ]

[ Quickly he reaches over to try and grab the phone from Haru. ]

Haru, turn that thing off-!

Ehh, it's on? I wondered because the light was red--! But Yuki, don't take it!! And you're making that face again, it's not good!

[ Haru will stretch his arm and turn and twist this way and that, trying to keep the device out of Yuki's grip. ]

Does this mean we can talk to people with it? Is that why you're trying to take it--? But what about Natsuki and Akira, maybe we can find them with this!

Don't film me! [ His voice squeaks, 'that face' just getting worse. If anything he just tries to push the camera's view off of him. ]

I- I'll teach you how to text! No video!

[ During the struggle, Yuki accidentally hits the button to turn the device back off. The feed ends there (for now.) ]

Honestly... you should be more careful with these things. Who knows what you could end up recording, otherwise.

[Trying to be helpful, Cheren?? Maybe.]

[ When the feed comes back on, Haru is holding his device again and is now sitting on a couch, once again swinging his legs. He huffs, puffing out his cheeks in obvious frustration. ]

Yuki said he'd teach me, but he still hasn't taught me.

[ He'll point the camera to now show Yuki, who's attention is finally off Haru (for the moment) as he is now cooking something. ]

I think I figured it out already, though. That red blinking light means it's turned on, right? [ and back to Haru, who's grinning. ] And we can talk to people with this, right?

That's right. It doesn't seem like you needed him to teach you at all. You can talk to other people with it in multiple ways, too. You can talk into it like a phone, or even use the texting function. Video is the most familiar to me.

I don't really get it, but I got it! [ yeah he'll just answer all that with that. ]

So if we use "video" that means it's showing us like a TV does?

[ he likes watching the television, anyhow, so he seems pretty intrigued by the idea. ]

Yes, you could say that. It films you, and broadcasts it to the network. So it's like a TV in some aspects.

[Some... ! Even if it's not as widespread as a TV]

It does stop someone from seeing you embarrassed, yes. Voice would also help with that.

[ oh hey, isn't that the weird-face kid - ? well, he supposes he could be tactful and at least respond with text. ]

i think your friend might be a little camera-shy...

[ it takes Haru a few long moments to read the text, and to figure out just how to respond, but he decides to just stick to what he's figured out for now since it's easier. ]

"Camera-shy"?

[ Haru will headtilt at the term. He's also now sitting on a couch, and the sounds of someone else cooking can be heard, as Yuki is distracted with that right now. ]

[ suddenly he's reminded of something from a while ago -- ]

Oh! Like when he didn't want to be on TV? When we were trying to catch that guy--

[ he gets the feeling from the original video post and the amount of time it takes to respond that the person he's replying to probably isn't very good with technology, so he'll switch over to video. ]

Yeah, basically. People who don't like being photographed. Or filmed. They're usually kind of shy, I guess?

[ Ah! He can see you now! His grin widens after having viewed the response and he gives an excited wave. ]

Hello!! [ he'll then hum thoughtfully. ] It's probably because of that face he always makes, too. Okay! I won't film him as much! [ "as much". He might sneak in some other recordings later. ]

I'm an alien, so I just don't really get these things. But I know when Yuki makes that face, he's not really "mad"! He just doesn't know what to do when that happens. Is that also what it means to be "shy"? I know he doesn't like talking to people he doesn't know much. But he's gotten better at that!

That's probably being shy, yeah. But maybe you should ask him if he thinks so, too -- I think he'd be able to answer better than I can.

... You're an alien? [ he would have totally pinned it the other way around, if he'd known one of the two was an extraterrestrial... ] But I guess you're probably not from wherever here is, either, right?

I'll ask him when he's done cooking!

[ he'll lean back against the couch with a wide grin, holding his device in the air and pointing it down at him. ]

I'm not from here, I'm from my planet! It's a planet with a lot of water and it's weather is really cool. And Yuki's planet is Earth, and we both lived in Enoshima! In Japan! Enoshima is also like my home.

I don't like the attention.

seems like you and your friend are a case of opposites attract, then.

[ there's a pause before he sends a second text -- ] not that that's a bad thing, i mean. i have a friend like that too...

We're very different, yeah. But he's also one of my best friends.

yes, for better or worse. he has very bright red hair, not unlike you.

it's kind of a relief, right? to have somebody familiar here...
