[ The video pops on a to a somewhat frazzled looking woman. She frowns down at the... pillow... in her hands, but then she pouts in a way that doesn't look at all her own age. ]

Nice video function anyways...

[ She straightens up a bit, and the camera moves enough to show that she's surrounded by a lot of other pillows. ]

So I guess this might be some kind of stress-induced hallucination, and I'm in some kind of mental health facility, but I'm feeling a lot more lucid now, and if we could talk about getting me treated a little faster I'd... like that a lot.

[ Her voice is steely, but it's a forced resolve. ]

And let me talk to my family.

I'm telling you we're not patients. We're just in a really weird place that replaced pavement for pillows. There's really sharp objects the next district over, though.

They should keep those away...

[ She pauses. ]

Yes, you're completely in your right frame of mind. It's weird, but what you're seeing is definitely reality. You've been kidnapped and taken to a place where fairies are real and humans are dumb enough to use poor construction procedures. And the queen isn't a nice person.

I'm actually in a magical pillow land?

[ ...ow. She clenches her teeth to not yelp when she pinches herself. ]

These phones only really work to contact other phones just like it.

Hate to break it to you, but this isn't looking like some kind of hallucination.

So I can only talk to other pillow phones?

[ She takes a deep breath. ] Alright. I'm stuck here, and I can only call other kidnapping victims.

They've got a lot more than the walls padded. It would make sense.

[ She's got a husband and two kids who need her this isn't cool. ]

I've pinched myself too many times for it to be a dream either.

[ ... what's wrong with her face? She's pretty attractive a fish lady. ]

So I guess you must be pretty convinced by now that this is all actually happening.

[ It's probably the whole... fish lady... thing. ]

Somehow, someway, this is actually happening. I'd call my own family and closest friends crazy if they told me about it, and yet here it is.

It gets easier. I was pretty confused when I first made it to the surface world, but I've gotten pretty used to it by now.

It seemed kind of rude to ask what you are, but now that you've brought up a 'surface world', are you some kind of mermaid?

And whatever passes for phones in the other districts.

Don't worry about it. You're not the first to ask, and my people aren't exactly common on land.

'Marai' is what we're called, but I guess mermaid is more common among humans.

I've never heard of anyone like that outside of stories, but at this point, I guess anything can happen.
